Thought of the day: You cannot out-exercise bad nutrition!
According to the Oslo Study, older men who exercise six days a week-any exercise including walking, can decrease their chance of an early death by as much as 40% over their sedentary counter parts.
I assume the results are similar for women as well (not sure why they didn't do that study concurrently.) That said, an exercise program doesn't justify poor food choices and over eating.
Sometimes people who start exercising actually gain weight. Rightfully, some of this weight gain is from muscle toning and muscle weighs more than fat. But arguably, some people eat more because they believe they are burning off the calories faster. Wrong! The dailymail has some insight on this phenomenon that you may find interesting.
