Za’atar Eggs

This dish is a staple in Labanese and Middle Eastern kitchens where the Za’atar spice is always in stock! We love Za’atar oil because it adds flavor to anything from dips to roasted chicken…and now our eggs!

Our Healthy On You® While My Za’atar Gently Weeps Middle Eastern spice blend is just the right mix of toasted sesame seeds, dried herbs and sumac. Did you know that not all Za’atar blends contain sumac, the lemony tangy taste that makes our so delicious? We include it in our blend because we just can’t live without it!

Preparation

  1. In a small bowl, add the olive oil, While My Za'atar Gently Weeps spice blend and sea salt and whisk together. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. In a small skillet over medium heat, add 2 tbsps of the Za'atar oil.
  3. When hot, crack the two eggs into the oil. As the egg cooks and the whites turn opaque, scrape up the za'atar oil over the egg whites edges.
  4. Cook your eggs to perfection, the way you like, and scoop them onto flatbread or toast, whichever you prefer.  
  5. Sprinkle with a little extra While My Za'atar Gently Weeps spice blend and fresh dill.
